Job Description

St. Vincent de Paul Pharmacy in Dallas, Texas, specializes in providing prescription medication, free of charge, to patients who do not have health insurance and are at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level. We are seeking a caring, energetic person to join our mission on a temporary 12-month assignment as a part-time Pharmacy Technician/Health Outcomes Coordinator. This role includes pharmacy technician duties and supporting the Hypertension Management Project the Pharmacy is rolling out in conjunction with the American Heart Association.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Participates in training for the Hypertension Management Project. Learns and teaches patients how to use the Pharmacy application, blood pressure monitoring kits, and measuring of blood pressure.
• Contacts eligible patients to enroll in project.
• Periodically follows-up with patients to collect blood pressure readings, other data, and access outcomes.
• Collaborates with other team members to develop and implement strategies to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Hypertension Management Project.
• Participates in project meetings as needed.
• Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist in Charge, participates in the day-to-day activities of the pharmacy including receiving prescriptions, entering them into the pharmacy computer system, and filling prescriptions.
• Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Verbal and written communication skills to speak, listen, read, and write effectively.
• Adaptable, motivated, and dependable with the ability to provide excellent ethical quality service across all situations.
• Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations for taking and dispensing prescriptions.
• Knowledge of pharmacy products, services, and operations.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician in good standing in the State of Texas preferred.
• Pharmacy experience in a community or outpatient setting (min. 1 year) including prescription filling, records and legal compliance, and general pharmacy operations preferred.
• Experience with MS Suite/computer literacy and experience with pharmacy patient management software preferred.
• Able to work with people of diverse backgrounds in a faith-based setting.
• Able to pass drug screening and maintain Safe Environment certification.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to bend, and/or carry light items up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to walk, stand, for periods of 3 hours or greater.
• Driving an automobile may be occasionally required.
