Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
Organist/Director/Conductor for Masses on Sundays, Holy Days, Vigil Masses, including Solemnities and Holy Week.
Organist for weddings/funerals for additional fees.
Organist-Director for special liturgies/masses for outside organizations for additional fees.
Plan and select liturgical music, Mass settings, Psalm settings, hymns, choral, organ and instrumental for Masses. Create schedules.
Create liturgy sheets for the choir.
Provide Order of Mass information for weekly bulletin and occasional worship aids, including hand-outs for Christmas Eve and Easter masses in the Community Center.
Oversee, hire and assign musicians for Christmas Eve and Easter masses in the Community Center.
Audition, select and hire associate/assistant musicians, including assistant organists/directors, administrative assistants, professional singers, instrumentalists and contract musicians.
Organist/Director for School Masses, collaborating with school religion and music teachers, selecting liturgical music, rehearsing with student cantors, assigning adult cantors as necessary, directing choristers.
Prepare and administer music budget for the Church Music Ministry.
Direction and/or Supervision of choirs, professional singers, cantors, choristers, assistant organists, instrumentalists, handbell choir, additional music personnel.
Continue building The King’s Choristers program founded in 2018, and revived post-COVID in 2022.
Supervise maintenance of all musical instruments in the Church, Parish Center and Community Center.
Oversee music library maintenance/additions/budget/purging.
Assign/collaborate duties with Assistant Organist/Director.
If relevant, compose/arrange/publish music for us at Christ the King; copyright remains with the composer/arranger.
Perform other duties as determined by the Pastor of Christ the King.

Education and Experience:
Previous experience in coordinating Church liturgy
Trained organist
Physical Requirements Specific to the Job:
Job requires individual to be mobile (including climbing stairs to choir loft), hearing, and seeing.
Special Requirements:
Ability to work regular, and sometimes, extensive, evenings and weekends
