2021 Lenten Reflections

Diocesan Interracial Healing Task Force

The killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May 2020 seemed to open the eyes of many in the U.S. and the world about how racism manifests. Throughout the Sundays of the Lenten Season, the Interracial Healing Task Force has created reflection questions designed to help each of us look inside ourselves to consider the often-difficult topic of racism and the even more challenging struggle of how to achieve racial healing.

Continue the Conversation

These reflections are intended to be the start of a conversation and action on addressing issues of race in the Catholic Church here in the Diocese of Dallas. We hope that you will take the time to discuss with others what you learned. Below are some suggestions on how you can continue this conversation and take action to ensure that all are welcome in our parishes and schools.

For Parishes

Share these reflections with your parishioners

SHARE on Facebook and Twitter with the information provided in our Social Media Kit [Coming Soon!].

SEND your parishes the weekly meditations via Flocknote.

HOST a weekly Zoom call for parishioners and ministry leaders to talk about the meditations and discuss.

ADD a link to this website in a bulletin announcement. Click here for verbiage you can use for your bulletin.

For Individuals & Families

Meditate on these reflections in your home

START a conversation with one other person – a family member, friend, neighbor – about the topics of the reflections.

PRAY about the emotions you felt as you meditated on the reflections. Ask God to help you to identify one action you can take in response.

MAKE it a point to introduce yourself to a person from a different racial/ethnic background the next time you are at Mass or an event. Ask them about themselves and take time to listen to their experience.
